Today, Thursday 19th June, a collection of thirty five pop-art inspired illustrations of many of the international and Irish comedians performing at the Carlsberg Comedy Carnival were unveiled at an exhibition at No. 15 St. Stephen''s Green. The illustrations have been specially commissioned for the four-day Carlsberg Comedy Carnival, which is taking place from 24th to 27th July in the Iveagh Gardens, and set to be one of the most exciting events on the summer festival calendar.

The unique illustrations feature many Irish and international comedians set to a variety of colourful backgrounds. The illustrations can be seen in the press advertising from today, Thursday 19th June, onwards and will also be on display in Vicar Street from 20th June for comedy fans to see. To mark the first day of the Carlsberg Comedy Carnival, on Thursday 25th July, the illustrations will be moved to the stunning setting of the Iveagh Gardens and installed in the Comedy Factory as part of the venue''s bespoke pop-art inspired interior.

The Carlsberg Comedy Carnival will play host to over 65 International and Irish acts, playing 50 shows over one unique carnival weekend. These will be performed in four magnificent, fully-seated, purpose-built marquees, including the impressive and atmospheric Iveagh Theatre tent, the Comedy Factory, the intimate Shack and the stunning Magic Mirrors Palace, a Spiegeltent, which is being shipped in from Belgium.

Speaking about the illustrations, Stephen O''Kelly, Marketing Manager, Carlsberg said, "The comedian illustrations are very colourful and exciting pieces and we''re confident that comedy fans are really going to like them.

The display of the Collection in the Comedy Factory will attract a lot of interest and create a memorable experience for festival-goers, as they see their favourite comedians presented in a unique way."

Festival Director, Bren Berry, Aiken Promotions said "The comedians really like the pop-art inspired illustrations of themselves, and it’s really exciting for us to create artwork which reflects the unique colourful character of the Carlsberg Comedy Carnival. We''re looking forward to displaying them at Vicar Street before we move them on to the Comedy Factory at the Iveagh Gardens in July. The Collection highlights the diverse line up from all over the world performing in this wonderful secret garden, and will be an added attraction at the event."

Carlsberg Comedy Carnival will showcase a diverse range of well known, alternative and up-and-coming talent, including Des Bishop, Louis C.K., The Tommy & Hector Show, Lee Mack, Ardal O''Hanlon, The Stars of ''Whose Line is it Anyway'' with special guest Phill Jupitus, The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, John Cooper Clarke, Jason Byrne, PJ Gallagher, Reggie Watts, David O''Doherty, Maeve Higgins, Reginald D. Hunter, Adam Hills, Apres Match, Phil Nichol, John Bishop, Danny Bhoy and many more. It will also feature a lively array of performance artists, musicians, good food and refreshments in a vibrant, carnivalesque surrounding.

The Trachtenburgs are a domestic trio (dad Jason, mom Tina Pia, 12-year-old daughter Rachel), who play quirky indie pop songs in the key of unironic good, clean fun with one major catch: All the songs'™ carefully rhyming lyrics come from the vintage slide collections they've found at estate or garage sales that accompany their performances.

I Heart U July 9th Sidewalk Cafe New York

It’s a lot of fun covering heroes like Bob Dylan, Elliot Smith, Jeff Buckley and Rush, but some of the nicest cover moments occur when a local artist pays homage to a peer. It happens a lot on Monday nights. Brook Pridemore is famous for doing this; he released an entire record of peer-to-peer coverage last year. On July 9, the Sidewalk presents I Heart U. It’s a night where everyone taking the stage picks a song or two by a peer they admire. Currently slated to play: Jason Trachtenberg, The Fools, Mike Baglivi, Benjamin Shepherd, The Telethons, Jaymay, Ben Krieger, Andrew Hoepfner, M. Lamar, Dan Costello, Carl Creighton, Debe Dalton, Brian Speaker, Isto, Major Matt Mason USA, Stephanie Nilles, Dan Fishback, Miwagemini, Vin, David Greenberg, and Daniel Bernstein.
