The Pendulum Swings, Brooklyn and Queen's leading Nerd-Jazz Comedy orchestra is going to dig deep into the popular, and obscure, American songbook. We will do 3 sets and tell some stories of life, love, and industry secrets. We are not your 'father's jazz band,' although sometimes we wish we were! - No Cover! The Pendulum Swings is the first big-band project from Jason Trachtenburg (Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players), featuring a seasoned 8-piece horn section. The band has been described as, “…A warped Sinatra…” by Time Out New York. Their show is a stylistic homage to big-band era Duke Ellington and Count Basie. The musical performance is brash, yet mysterious; humorous yet somehow serious. The overt comedic element cannot cannot downplayed enough. Legendary in-between song banter, rip-roaring one-liners, and an unforgettable “Q and A” session with the audience are commonplace at a Pendulum Swings show!
